The Bravery with The Switches and Your Vegas at Terminal 5 in New York City. February 21, 2008 PART TWO!

I wasn’t expecting much of Your Vegas, the opening band, when I attended the Bravery at Terminal 5. I had seen the Switches at the Annex a few months ago when I threw a Bar Mitzvah themed party/show. We had inflatable guitars and microphones, giant sunglasses, and other Party City purchased party decorations that are staples of Bar & Bat Mitzvahs. It was really really weird, but very fun. The band were good sports about it — even when I taped a giant inflatable microphone to the singer’s mic stand.

That night, the Switches were great and reminded me of Supergrass (one of my favorite bands of all time), and opening up for the Bravery, they were right at home on the massive stage. They also sort of looked like the Vines (but played better live).

Who killed it? After the jump…

But seriously, the highlight of my night of seeing bands, was with Your Vegas. I never heard of them, had no perceptions about them… nothing. I was basically there because my friend wanted to see Your Vegas. What a great surprise! They were like a mixture of U2 and Coldplay, with lush melodies… grand and epic in their song structure.

I stood by the front of the stage in awe of how great they were. I think that in a year, they’re gonna be the ones headlining Terminal 5. Their album isn’t out for another couple months, and even so they had the audience in the palm of their hands. All they needed was to have the kids know their songs and that show would’ve been theirs!
