It's amazing how that added awareness can elevate a group from "folks with instruments" into a proper band. I recently saw a band invite a 'living legend' onstage as a guest guitarist for a song, and what was immediately noticeable was that he almost never took his eyes off of the other guys in the band. He knew how to follow cues and add to the song, to make it better, rather than just hitting the right notes.

It's always really cool, that moment when you see a band and can say to yourself, "yeah, they'll get there."</description>
