Duran Duran, Central Park Summerstage, NYC. May 31, 2008

So I imagine that the appropriate thing for me to do would be to write a review about the Duran Duran show at Central Park’s Summerstage last week. But to be honest, I would come across as the biggest fan girl on the face of the earth since I was kinda screaming the whole time in pure “Ohmygod! this is too great!!!!!” delight.

The band sounded fucking incredible. If you gave me an audio of their performance and told me it was super vintage, I definitely would’ve believed you.

But instead, I’m going to be presenting you with a bunch of photos. My friend Paul is their manager and apart from letting me and my friend Karen throw the Duran Duran afterparty for the first of the two shows (by the way, we were also once hired to DJ their afterparty a couple years ago and they came up to us and said they loved our set!!!!), Paul also gave me a photo pass so I could shoot the show for this blog. So I was pretty much smiling ear to ear like a four year old who just got a pony for about 15 minutes while I stood in their photo pit. I’m surprised I didn’t make them LOL.

Here are the photos (more after the jump, by the way):

Oh, I see what you’re doing there:

John Taylor

Yeah, I studied his crotch for a while too, don’t feel so bad:

Brotherly love:

John Taylor steps up:

Lookin’ good:

You know what rules about this photo?

OMGOGMGOMGOGMG IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY, YOU WILL SEE THAT SIMON LEBON IS LOOKING AT ME!

Here’s him just after looking at me, obviously he felt the need to step it up:

And strike this OMG Jesus pose:

Someone’s hand got in the way for this photo, but it’s still pretty great:

John Taylor brought to you by the letter “D”:

Is it wrong that I studied this photo’s middle regions for a little while?:

Eat your heart out. Let’s put aside the fact that Duran Duran sounded FUCKING PERFECT for a second (really, they did, I simply cannot believe how lucky I was to see this show), but LOOK at this photo of John Taylor. Isn’t he just unbelievable?

Oh, and look! He was looking at me too!

After the third song everyone had to leave the photo pit and it started to rain. But really, who is going to give a shit about it raining when Duran Duran are playing the best show on earth? Certainly not this kid, who I had ran into a couple nights earlier at Irving Plaza. He’s obvs my new boyfriend:

Then they decided to turn into Kraftwerk for the second half of their set. Old Duran Duran was very Kraftwerky before they decided to sing about girls named Rio. I guess they reached into their barrel of influences and covered the Normal’s “Warm Leatherette”:

Oooooohhhhhh Robots:

How gorgeous, right?:

This is how I want to decorate my apartment:
