We love our buddy NickyDigital so much that we gave him his own feature. Every few days we’ll feature something music related that he put up on his site. It’s fun to share things that friends are up to.

The delightful Lauren Mooney went to see Dawn Landes at Mercury Lounge on June 15th. It was raining like a mofo, so she’s obviously a super trooper. Here is her review:

Tilly & the Wall have made a new video for the song “Pot Kettle Black” with director Alan Tanner. Stereogum has the exclusive premier of the video. Also, if that’s not fun enough, Tilly & the Wall recently performed their very own version of the “ABC Song” in a music video slated to be featured in the forthcoming 39th season of Sesame Street, set to air this fall.

Absolutepunk are reporting that Max Bemis is gonna be appearing on LoveLines… which blows my mind. It’s airing June 12. Whatcha gonna ask?
The R.Kelly trial is getting really weird. RollingStone is reporting that relatives of the girl that’s apparently on the tape, isnt actually the girl. That it’s someone else. I can’t help but think R.Kels totally got them to say that in exchange for limo rides or something. Last night I had a dream about R.Kels, but I think that’s because I was with friends watching his insane live DVD.
A Cappella groups are so so so weird. I think they typically are composed of some weird kids, too. BrooklynVegan has a video of some weir a cappella kids performing Daft Punk… it’s kinda incredible tbh.

Last time I was in London The Wombats’ A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation made its way into the Tower of Pisa precariously balanced in my arms at Zavvi. Since then I’ve been pogoing around my bedroom to it quite frequently, so I was super excited to get the chance to witness them live and pogo along in real time.

If you missed American Idol last night, you missed (and this is putting it mildly) one hell of a performance from former Idol contestant Fantasia Barrino. Too bad hers is the most exciting performance of the season thus far. Gawker has the vid.
Conor Oberst is realeasing a solo album, out on August 4th. I’m glad he’s branching out, it’ll be interesting to see how he fares now that he’s escaped from under the shadow of….all those other influential people in Bright Eyes.

Has anyone ever been to Trailer Park Lounge on 23rd St? Seriously, a pitcher of margaritas is $42 bones and I nearly let out a gay squeal in shock and awe, that is until the bartender told me the pitcher was for 8 people. So that would explain the rest of the events for the night.
After my margs I headed over to Yelle with my friend Katie. Thank Yahweh I found Glen and his friend Daniel in line because the line for ticket HOLDERS was two blocks long. Besides the drinks being overpriced at Highline, I really do enjoy the actual space. Even with that many people waiting outside, the show never seemed that crowded.
Heartsrevolution opened for Yelle; I had seen them open for Crystal Castles at SXSW and was even more impressed this time around. They have a very electronic DIY feel but their lead singer LO has an aggressive stage presence that really ties the group together. Although absent this time around was the Perez Hilton looking girl who was with them at SXSW, not sure what happened to her. Anywho, I really enjoyed their set even though it could have been longer.
For those of you who may not be familiar with Yelle, she’s a singer who hails from France and like Lily Allen gained notoriety via myspace. In America we regard her as a cool electro import but as my nieces and nephews in France would tell you, no one over 14 listens to her, she’s “too cheesy” (ugh youth). She gained notoriety for her song “Short Dick Cuizi” later to be retitled “Je Veux te Voir” which incidentally uses the bass line from 20 Fingers’ “Short Dick Man.” Ok so let’s just stop and gay check: Electro + Bass line from “Short Dick Man” + French chick singer = yeah we’re hitting gay gold here. Strapp is at it again, this time trekking all the way to Brooklyn from NJ to see Vivian Girls, Abe Vigoda, Woods, and Fiasco at the Silent Barn. Naturally, his review makes you wish you were there and the photos are just the icing on the cake(shop):
OK, just for the record, we had a couple of people/spies running around Bamboozle trying to collect gossip for us.
Brandi C from VH1’s Rock of Love was spotted running around with Chris “Leave Britney Alone” Crocker. We believe they were either part of Jeffree Star’s entourage or with Bret Michaels… either way, they were getting out of someone’s tour bus. Looks like he didnt find his TRUE rock of love afterall.
Ben from Armor for Sleep thinks Lost is a game.
Mat Devine from Kill Hannah was spotted at Beatrice Inn post Bamboozle on Saturday giving a little lipservice to — may we pray that our eyes didn’t decieve our spies — Brenden Urie of Panic at the Disco AND also Kirsten Dunst! Slash fiction come true!
The drummer or bassist of some emo band was seen trying to fend off approximately six different girlfriends from around the country… and his mother. One of the them Hit the Roof.
