The Gossip, Webster Hall, NYC. 4/16/08

I have become totally obsessed with American Idol this season, which might be ironic since everyone is up in arms about how it’s the worst season ever — which I totally disagree with, — and how the ratings are down. Isn’t everything down this year? The economy, record sales, my emotions. It’s all down.

Tons of big video after the jump!

Jens Lekman, Webster Hall, NYC. 4/5/2008

“Adorable.” “Cute.” “Swedish.” These are all words that get thrown around by bloggers whenever Jens Lekman plays a show, and this past Saturday’s soiree seems to be no different. This was my fourth timing seeing the oh-so-silent one, but only my first time seeing him in the past year. After taking such a long break from him, I figured I would be treated to a new stage show, maybe a new set, and I was even holding out some hope for some new banter and stories. I think that their songs are just so fucking moving that I can’t handle it sometimes and become dizzy with emotion. It’s kind of like how I feel whenever I see Interpol or Sigur Ros live. But unlike those two bands, GN are still small enough that I was able to stand up against the stage.

The Walkmen and White Rabbits, Webster Hall, NYC. 3/4/08.

Last summer at the Siren festival that I was DJing with my DJ partner KarenPlusOne, I met a wee boy dressed like he came to Coney Island straight from his home in the Hamptons. He was wearing khaki shorts, a white collared shirt, and probably an ascot. He may have been wearing a sailors cap, and he may have sailed over on his yacht. When I asked Karen who her cute Hamptons buddy was and she told me the singer of the White Rabbits.

See who was in the crowd and more after the jump.
