The Futureheads, Pianos, NYC. June 18, 2008.

The Futureheads played a secret show for BrooklynVegan’s Rock’n'ROFL at Pianos. Only about 100 lucky people got to go, and I was one of them!

My favorite parts were when one of the supremely drunken audience members jumped on stage to take over the mic and scream some jibberish, and when Ross from FH asked an audience member, if like him, he got mistaken for the singer of the Decemberists.

The Futureheads, Chief, Bowery Ballroom, NYC. June 17, 2008.

I love love LOVE the Futureheads. They remind me of bands that I would’ve discovered while going through my older brother’s vinyl collection, sandwiched between his Jam and Clash records. Their new single, “The Beginning of the Twist” can be downloaded for free (and legally) here. Their live show is filled with a ton of spastic energy and coordinated dance moves that makes you wish watching them would never end.

Opening band, Chief, are one of my new favorite bands. They all live in NYC for college I think, but they’re from LA. When I watch them I feel transcended and stoned (even when not smoking the reefer)… they just have that nice sunny LA-vibe that is such a delight to hear in NYC. Their sound is a mix of Kings of Leon and Tom Petty. You can hear their songs, and download their songs on their myspace.

REDBULL & ADDERALL: YOUR AFTERNOON PICK-ME-UP

Posted in Redbull and Adderall on May 12th, 2008 by Ultragrrrl

The Oohlas did an amazing cover of Bauhaus’ “All I Ever Wanted Was Everything” that is available on their MySpace. I can’t stop listening to it!

And Rhianna did a cover of M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” that can be found on YouTube. I only wish she changed the song up a bit.

Stereogum has a video of the Futureheads doing “Radio Heart” from the back of a black cab.

OMFG NEW NKOTB VIDEO here.

Everyone is covering the fact that David Archuleta’s father isn’t allowed backstage at American Idol anymore, so we are too.

BrooklynVegan covered this weekend’s El-P, Aesop Rock & Dizzee Rascal show at Webster Hall.

TheModernAge went to see Adam Green live in concert and made it home in time for bed.

I still hate Metallica, but just cos of their music.

The Five O’Clock Heroes has their new video for the song “Who” featuring Agyness Dyen on their MySpace page.
