Police’s classic album (it’s classic cos people say so, but I was never a big Police fan tbh) Synchronicity is for sale on Amazon.com for $1.99.
I guess Cute is What We Aim for decided to aim for a cheaper designer when they did their new album cover. Revolt-Media.com has the comparisons for you. Whoops!
I’m starting to believe that Heidi Montag is in on the joke. You know? Like, maybe she’s super funny and clever and is coming up with all these insane ideas of things to do to be over the top ridiculous. I mean, there’s no other way to explain her new song “Fashion”.
I really love Jared Leto drama. Like, it’s so great and everyone thinks he’s a douchebag, and has all these great stories, and I met him once at Sundance and he was nice to me cos he was trying to get with my friend… and oh look, he heard the kids were really into Mindless Self Indulgence. Whatevs, I’d still hit it.
Were you unable to attend this years Coachella festival like I was? Well, then maybe you were as wonderfully surprised as I was when you found out that Prince covered Radiohead’s “Creep.” Radiohead were too, and they wanted to see clips on YouTube like the rest of us BUT COULDNT!
Fiddy’s house caught fire. Six people were hospitalized and thankfully, nobody was killed. Police are suspecting arson.
The delightful folks at NPR recorded the Raconteurs live from the 9:30 club in DC. You might want to pee before listening to avoid inability to leave computer for an hour and a half because of rock overload. [MusicIsMyBoyfriend]
The movie about the Germs starring Shane West is coming out in August, says Billboard. I’m guessing the remaining members of the Germs are either broke, bored, or really like Shane West’s portrayal of Germs’ singer, Darby Crash, since they played in a band together for a bit.
Buzzgrinder has some great stuff from a newish band called Javelins.
BrooklynVegan has a list of all the great performances happening at the today show this Summer. Including: Rihanna, Coldplay, and Ashlee Wentz.
By the way, my friend Angela and I were trying to think of what Pete and Ashlee Wentz were going to name their baby. Here are some of the ideas:
Morrissey or Moz Wentz, Bowie Wentz, Wentzel Wentz, Panic! Wentz, Rainer Maria Wentz, Homer Simpson-Wentz. What do you think it’ll be?
A man was just accused of trying to cash in a check for $360 BILLION, which was to be used to start up his record label. He apparently got the check from his girlfriend’s mom. $360,000,000,000.00 seems like a bit much.
ArjanWrites has some great photos from last weekend’s Coachella festival.
Coldplay is driving Miss Modernage bonkers. First by announcing a free mp3, and second by announcing a free show at msg.
Best Of Radiohead tracklisting has been posted. The band had nothing to do with this release.
Check out this bizarre Nike commercial created by Taryn Kosoviner featuring a guy getting his jogging done by running up and down stairs in an OCD stir. Kinda genius.
What happens when the Jam’s frontman Paul Weller collaborates with Noel Gallagher from Oasis? I have a seizure from excitement! You can hear the track, “Echoes Round the Sun”, on Stereogum. Weller is releasing 22 Dreams 6/24 on Yep Roc — it’s a two-disc, 21-track, 70-minute album(s) with guests like: Graham Coxon, Ocean Colour Scene’s Steve Cradock, Little Barrie, ex-Stone Roses guitarist Aziz Ibrahim, and Oasis’ Gem Archer and Noel Gallagher. I am about to pull out all my old Melody Maker magazines and blow a load. That’s entertainment?
I guess the collaboration Linkin Park did with Jay-Z a few years back went well since the band is teaming up with another hip hop genius: Busta Rhymes. Hoo-ha. Check out the two collaborate in a video for “We Made It”. I liked LP’s first album (weird, right?), but this video is whackjuice. Too over the top.
Like I said, the world is turning into my brain circa 1998, so naturally, Morrissey performed “Irish Blood, English Heart” on the Craig Ferguson show. I have a tea cup that Moz drank out of that Marc Spitz stole for me when he interviewed the Mozfather in 2003. I drink out of it almost daily. Anyway… Moz was wearing an American Idol shirt while performing, which is kinda genius and sort of makes me want to buy one myself now. You can see a video of this here. Oh, and can we talk about last night’s Idol? I had been waiting for like the ENTIRE SEASON, if not my entire life, for it to be Neil Diamond night on AI, and it was an abomination!!!!! First off, the songs were rushed beyond belief. The song choices were all horrible for each contestant (really, Archuleta should not have sun “Sweet Caroline”), and the two most Neil-worthy contestants — minus my sweetie Jason Castro — were kicked off (carly and michael)!!!!!! Neil should shoot them all. Also, I left a voice mail for my book editors to send the contestants my latest book called the Pocket Karaoke because I pay such strong attention to the Neil chapter. It was my favorite to write. I doubt sent the books because the performances wouldn’t have sucked so bad if they did.
Absolutepunk.net has the tourdates for Modest Mouse and REM. I bet you Michael Stipe is like “OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGG I’M TOURING WITH JOHNNY MARR!!!!”
Mark your calendars for May 3 because that’s the official date when Radiohead becomes music for the VH1 crowd. But that’s OK because VH1 is airing a show called Radiohead_In Rainbows_From the Basement. You can watch a teaser for it featuring “Reckoner” here:
Oh God do I love Thom Yorke. SEE!!!! 1998!!!!!! ALL OVER AGAIN BECAUSE EVIDENTLY MY BRAIN IS NOW DICTATING POP CULTURE AND IT DECIDED TO PULL FROM THE BEST FUCKING MUSICAL PERIOD.
Plan your Bamboozle with set times. This doesn’t come from my brain circa 1998 except for the fact that I met Bryan from Saves the Day when I was 18 at some party. But he’s not even in the band anymore and hasn’t been for almost 10 years. But I am in the album art for Through Being Cool. Find me. The pizza scene. I hadn’t even heard the band before, thank God they’re pretty god.
Radiohead stays true to their efforts of being Green during Greenweek and will be performing live, via satellite, on Conan. I will say that I’m happy they’re not hypocrites, but I will say that I’m also glad I didn’t try to attend Conan to see this.
Check out a live acoustic performance by Eisley on PureVolume. They’re always delightful.
The Pipettes are apparently bored of having the same three people in the band, so they swapped out two members. Do we have a future Diana Ross on our hands? Go to their official website for more info.
Surface to Air and French electro geniuses Justice, are pairing up to bring you pairs of jeans and leather jackets to ensure you too can look like a French douchebag. Just kidding, the frenchies are hot.
HOLY MOSES! The Lollapalooza line-up has finally been announced. I am having a hard time picking out the names of those I’m most excited to see, which is obviously an amazing thing. But here goes a shot: Radiohead, Rage Aganst the Machine, Wilco, Nine Inch Nails, the Ting Tings, InnerPartySystem, CSS, Brand New, Duffy, the Postelles, MGMT, Nicole Atkins & The Sea, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Uffie, and many, many, many more. Who wants to house us in Chicago?
Neil Diamond previews songs from his new album on Amazon.com
It’s hard not to fucking love Haley from Paramore. She’s 10 years our junior and we still want to be her! Over at Buzznet, they have fan coverage of Bamboozle left including a recap about our favorite lil redhead joining New Found Glory on stage. Really, we’d just like to see her on stage with Cyndi Lauper, but what can you do?
In honor of Billie Holiday’s birthday, TheFrisky The Frisky compiled a playlist of some of the best covers of songs either written by or famously performed by her.
Our buddy, Tim Kasher from the band Cursive, got his screenplay, Help Wanted Nights, picked up! That means someone will be making a movie about it. Yay Tim! Read the details about this in LA Times, of course.

Castaneda will be appearing on an episode of Shark, a TV show on CBS starring James Woods.
This comes, like, 10 years too late for my social awkwardness: Radiohead has turned W.A.S.T.E. into a social networking site.
Norah Jones’ secret rockband El Madmo, has signed to Conor’s Team Love record label.
Brad Walsh has posted photos from The Factory featuring Martin Bregman, Sam from Mooney Suzuki, and Catherine from the Pierces.
