REDBULL & ADDERALL: YOUR AFTERNOON PICK-ME-UP

Posted in Redbull and Adderall on May 29th, 2008 by Ultragrrrl

First of all, some fantastic news regarding Gay Rights in the state of New York: Gov. David A. Paterson has directed all state agencies to begin to revise their policies and regulations to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other jurisdictions, like Massachusetts, California and Canada. I find the fact that Gay marriages are not recognized to be a total disregard for the separation of Church and State. What a great step forward. More at The New York Times.

Oh, what a fantastic thing to watch when you’re just feeling a wee bit not-your-self: ArjanWrites posted a video of Brandon Flowers and Dave Keuning from the Killers (duh), performing “Planet Earth” live, on stage, with Duran Duran! How fucking cool is that? Click here for more info and you can watch the video above.

Jake and Jeff Turner from Say Anything are in a band together called XO (probably after one of the best Elliott Smith albums), and they just posted a new song.

Pete and Ashlee Wentz are expecting a baby. Shocker. Congrats to them!

BrooklynVegan has some fantastic photos of the Cure from Sasquatch that are somewhat creepy. More amazing Sasquatch photos HERE.

Your other most favorite French electronic geniuses, Daft Punk, are in the studio. That makes me a happy happy person.

Pitchfork has an interview with Free Kitten — the band consisting of Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and Pussy Galore’s Julie Cafritz. Merow.

I love both Japanese people and Mariah Carey’s obsession with wearing heels all the time. Thankfully, both those things are in a video I found on Idolator of Mariah Carey throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game.

Also on Pitchfork, some good news for Nick Snow: The Wrens have a new song out! It’s available on some sort of compilation that’s about net neutrality and features songs from Bright Eyes, Wilco, and Palomar. More info at Pitchfork.

Miss Modernage has news that Jena Malone has a blog on IFC and a new song out and shit.

OHMYGOD… Clay Aiken apparently sperminated his record producer! Wow. Wow.

Jinners has some videos of Annie Lin with Christian Westbrook taken from Pianos on Friday.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are going on what’s rumored to be the last tour for the group. ProductShopNYC has the details of where you can see them.

Bamboozle, East Rutherford, NJ. May 3 & 4, 2008.

PART 1: IN PHOTOS

Every year I’ve attended Bamboozle I’ve left completely distraught by the ways of the world. What are the kids listening to? What are they wearing? WTF is up with all these “Free Hugs”? And while this year I fell into a flu caused by dehydration (thank you RedBull tent) and couldn’t move, talk, eat, drink or do anything yesterday, I actually had a great time. I was surprised. Mostly because this year found most of the bands being more homogenized than ever, but you know, that’s ok, really. The kids were all smiling and the weather was tolerable and the people I spoke to all had a great time — and were surprised by it! I caught up with Say Anything’s Max Bemis outside his band’s tourbus on Sunday and shared with him my sentiments of fun and was surprised to hear that he shared them.

I took a ton of video and many photos. Here’s the best of my photo collection, videos and gossip will follow in other posts.

I FUCKING LOVE THE TING TINGS!!!!! Here’s a remix of “That’s Not My Name.” Yeah!!!!! If I was in a band I’d either be in the Duke Spirit or The Ting Tings. You can get a Ting Tings widget here.

Got it hard for Death Cab for Cutie? MTV.com is premiering the new DCFC video starting now, and you’ll be able to stream the video on deathcabforcutie.com and on April 15 you can buy the video for “I Will Possess Your Heart” on iTunes.

Stereogum shares the name of the new Coldplay album, which happens to be the very long: Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends. What are some other lengthy named album titles you can think of? Please share in the comments.

A new chip is coming out that will let you store 500,000 songs on your iPod. This almost seems too good to be true!.

New Say Anything video for “Shiksa” is up on Myspace. I have the biggest crush on Max Bemis.

Miss Modernage is happy to see David Cook’s emover go. We’re glad too, but we will NOT tolerate her hatred of Jason Castro.

Phantom Planet added a new song to their MySpace Page called “Dropped”… I’m not fond of the word “dropped,” I prefer the phrase “let go.”
