Taking Back Sunday & My Chemical Romance, Madison Square Garden, NYC. May 9, 2008.

Are things still monumental when you’re expecting them to happen? For instance, back in 2002 when I was seeing My Chemical Romance at small clubs with like 10 people, I always knew they would eventually be playing Madison Square Garden. I really had no doubt in my mind about it. So when they played last night, headlining a sold out show at MSG, was I surprised? No. Was I proud? You bet.

I was also beaming with pride while watching my very dear friend Matt Rubano on stage playing bass in his band Taking Back Sunday. Like a series of synchronized explosives on stage, I don’t think I’ve ever seen them play a better sounding and more energetic show. You could tell, that with out a doubt, the band was proud to be there. Fuck, they’d be ridiculous not to be.

Redbull & Adderall: Your Afternoon Pick-Me-Up

Posted in Redbull and Adderall on May 6th, 2008 by Ultragrrrl

AbsolutePunk is reporting that Taking Back Sunday have found a replacement for Fred in a dude named Matt Fazzi. The color Fazzi is from a band called Facing New York. They’ve also posted artwork for Weezer’s new album HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA. (SEE ABOVE)

Check out Cobra Starship’s video for Guilty Pleasure.

A couple weeks ago I went to some NYLON party with Brad Walsh and Christian Siriano. It got really crowded so we left and on our way out we ran into Brad’s friend (and my new pal) Melissa Beck. Melissa insisted we wait for her husband to pick us up to drive two blocks cause he was driving a Benz. It was pretty amazing. Her husband is Justin Beck from Glassjaw, but I know him as Justin from MerchDirect. We went to the Maritime Hotel and I had some champagne and he drank soda and we gossiped about the music industry and false ideas. It was one of the most refreshing conversations I’ve had in a long time. It was pretty much exactly like this.

My Bloody Valentine are going on tour! They’re hitting NYC (twice), Toronto, Chicago, SF, and LA (twice). Thank God.

But even better news for me is that Sigur Ros are going on tour and hitting NYC!!!! Once I had this crazy surgery to remove a growth from my jaw and was under a lot of meds and took Vikes and drank white wine while at a Sigur Ros show with my friend Gideon and we kept on going “We feel like pillows!!!!!” It was awesome.

More tickets for All Tomorrow’s Parties are now on sale. I hate to say this, but the line-up, while great, is more like All Yesterday’s Partiees.

Jinners has the South Street Sea Port line up posted on her blog. Wire will be a fun one!

Apparently The Police will play their last ever show in a benefit to raise money for planting trees. Or so one would like to believe… it appears as if Police’s frontman, Sting, has been really bad about benefiting the charities he is supposed to help.

Perez has a new Kylie remix up.

The Pocket Karaoke Book Release Party, Angels & Kings, NYC. 3/3/08

Posted in Angels & Kings, Party on March 4th, 2008 by Ultragrrrl

We’re probably not going to be recovering anytime soon from last night’s book release party for my newest book, the Pocket Karaoke. I’m hungover as sin and dying.

The night started off with just me, my bf Brandon, and my friends Matt, Casey, and Sarah hanging out at my apt, listening to Wilco and drinking CokeZero and Champagne… cos that’s how we roll. Then Matt Rubano came over and brought my purse (which i had accidently left at Frank’s restaurant earlier in the day). He said the best thing about the East Village is that nobody even notices when you’re walking around with a purse, so he’s had it with him the whole day. I fully expect to find some dodgy purchases on my credit card. Mikey Way and his wife Alicia showed up shortly after and we all drank more and more champagne. My buddy Vin showed up and downed a bottle of red wine in 10 minutes.

NOW THAT’S HOW YOU PREGAME!

Rock star mug shots & karaoke after the jump!
